Minor Tournaments

With no disrespect towards the tournament organizers and title sponsors, many of the events below were a notch below the ATP Masters events, and in most cases, players didn’t receive penalties for skipping out if they chose to. These tournaments were often used as tune-ups prior to Grand Slam events, or, as a “filler” when schedules allowed. Unlike today’s schedule, during the 90s, players actually had more options on which tournaments they chose to participate in. With exception of the Volvo International (one of the “major minors” prior to it becoming the “Pilot Pen Open”) and Legg Mason events, all of the tournaments listed here were considered tier two and three events.

Matches are organized in alphabetical order by tournament name, then year. Those listed in dark gray are no longer available. Please note that several tournaments have changed title sponsors and locations over the years. For example, the Mercedes Cup in Los Angeles, CA eventually became the Countrywide Classic.
